Pictures From My Life This Fall

This fall has been filled with unbelievable beauty & thrilling adventures. Seems like there are blessings everywhere I look lately...

This September I started a long-term renovation project on an amazing historic house in Maine.

My clients had longed to own just such a cottage for a long, long time, and their dream has now come true. The house was built in 1891, and has hardly been changed since it was built.  I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be a part of preserving its history, and helping to restore its beauty.

Things like its original butler's pantry are still fully intact...

and the architectural interest in each room could take your breath away.

If you look closely in the picture above, you will see the damage to the floor that resulted from a decaying rug pad left in place over many decades. We unearthed lots of interesting things as we worked through the house and talked over which projects would be a priority.  Lots of planning…and sure to be fabulous results.

We worked long days moving furniture, rearranging rooms to make the spaces work their best. It was tiring but oh-so-gratifying work. And at the end of each day, I could look up  and see this...

The next morning, I came downstairs to find this little guy stuck in the back porch. He must have come in to join us the day before as we had all the windows open to enjoy the breeze.

I found a jar and quickly got him back outside & on his merry way. :)

Back at home, I am so thrilled to have been asked by MainLine Magazine to design the renovation of the Bridal Suite at the historic Duportail House

I am so excited to be working with the team of people who will be beautifying and preserving this amazingly historic site.

I hope your fall is also filled with beauty and adventure….and quiet moments to sit and enjoy the view.
