Outdoor Deck and Lounging Space

A tired, rotted deck was inherited from the home's previous owner, and it quickly became an eyesore-and a burden. Our clients, a banking executive and middle school teacher with one daughter in high school and the other now away at college, longed to make the space a functional and inviting environment they could use and enjoy often.

We transformed the entire outdoor experience by layering function and comfort. We started with a new screened porch to create a protected space for cool mornings, buggy evenings, and everything in between. The addition of an outdoor fireplace extended the usable season and made lingering feel natural.

The deck was reimagined as a series of intentional zones-lounging, dining, grilling, and gathering-so that hosting felt natural. Now, the finished outdoor space feels like an extension of the home itself, just as easy to use and enjoy as the adjoining interior space.
