Looking Back...Looking Forward (BEFORE & AFTER)

Many moons ago….

before everything in the world changed—hahaha—

I met with a client who was challenged by what to do with the front room of her house.

The space traditionally would be considered the living room, but for their family— with aging relatives that come to visit, and young daughters who needed a hang-out & homework space— this first floor room needed to fill a different need altogether.

My client didn’t like having the bed visible to visitors right as you came in the front door, but didn’t know what other options she had since it was so needed on the first floor.

We got to work talking through everything she wanted the space to do for her, how she wanted it to look & feel…

and we got to work. :)

Here are the results:

We came up with a plan for the space that would allow the girls to have a hang out homework space most days of the year, but one that could easily convert to a bedroom when the need arose.

We found a wall unit that would look gorgeous everyday & add so much decoratively to the room, but also converted to a murphy bed with a few simple maneuvers —yay!

We also planned on hanging a barn door over the opening to the foyer (not shown) so that guests would have privacy when the room was used for a bed chamber.

Also in the design was a brightening and freshening up of the foyer itself so that it was a more welcoming, inviting space as well.

As we were finishing up the room, my client came around the corner and gasped.

“This room feels like a warm hug now!'“

That was the best compliment I could have received. :) It was a true joy pulling this space together and making it work for their family.

“Erin just finalized a front entryway and room for my house and I couldn’t be happier. Before Erin’s arrival I was at a loss at what to do with this dark uninviting space, and typically just rushed my guests past it. Now it really is so warm and welcoming. I saw the final result and my reaction was “this room feels like a warm hug!”. Erin and her team were a pleasure to work with. Erin works with your style and is patient in guiding the design choices. Can’t wait for our next project together!!” —Leslie S., Garnet Valley, PA

Announcing my new "baby" :)

Last week I was SO excited to introduce my new "baby" --my new project house. 😊

I put up her picture on Facebook … (You can see the announcement and more pictures HERE :) )

I have been making plans for her transformation.

I have been working hard getting my ducks in a row…

BUT, I have to tell you, as things go right now
(maybe you are experiencing the same thing??)
NOTHING is going to plan.

I can’t wait to take you on the journey --as we get her back to her old self, and make her shine again--but with everything shut down, those plans will have to wait a little bit...

*SIGH*

Maybe you are going through a similar thing?

Maybe you were going to renovate, buy new furniture, redo a room or two this spring, maybe MOVE to a new house altogether...

BUT NOW you are stuck at home with the same old frustrations you couldn't wait to fix...with time on your hands. 🤨

Guess what —you can still do something!
Even at this time of shut down, you can make big, satisfying changes in your home!

You can change paint
Rearrange furniture
Add lighting
Add pops of color
*--You can use what you already have onhand---😃*

It is one of my favorite things:
Do what you can
with what you have,
where you are.

YES.

AND you don’t have to do it alone.

Just message me here—send me a message, and we can set up a consultation!

It is super easy-- we will look at your room(s) together through Zoom or FaceTime and layout a plan.

A plan to freshen things up, and give you a little added comfort and beauty!

You don’t have to do this alone…I’m right here, and can’t wait to help.

A Week Like No Other...

This past week has been one for the history books…and it may be one that a lot of us would rather forget at the same time.

With all of us ‘social distancing’ and staying at home as much as we can, things are stressful, worrisome, and downright strange…..SO, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to find a way to help and encourage you —and me— to make the most of this difficult time, and create some simplicity, peace and space in our lives and in our homes.

Because we certainly don’t need more chaos!

If you didn’t already know, for the past week I have been doing mini decluttering sessions/lessons each day on my Facebook page!

Please visit me over there and take advantage of all these mini lessons we have been working on!

And let me know what area of your house you are hoping to simplify…

Let’s take a step away from the chaos together, and walk towards clarity, comfort, and community as much as we can.

Sending you all love and hugs at this difficult time….xo.

How To Increase Your Sense of Wellbeing at this Difficult Time

It is a challenging, unusual time right now with the public health concerns we have....

However, maybe we can shift our thinking a bit and try to put a positive spin on having more downtime at home.

Hygge and its principles are a good place to start. I hope this video inspires you and encourages you to think of ways to create comfort for you and those you love at this difficult moment in our world 🌎 💙

My Farmhouse's Family Room :)

The plumber's pipes always leak? Hmmmm.

The cobbler's children all need new shoes?

The House Whisperer's house needs....everything? hahaha

Well, my family room at least needed a refresh--

And in the video above are the results after many months of pulling everything together!

AND here are what the room looked like before:

We so love the redesigned space with its fresh new look.

And I hope it inspires you to think of the spaces in your own home in a new way!
