Is it the SAME COUCH?? Really? (A Quick BEFORE & AFTER! )

One of my great joys in doing what I do, is to take a room that feels tired and old to my client, and make it completely new—even if most of the main pieces in the room never change.

This living room was ready for a reboot—and my client was ready for it to be rebooted!! —but she knew she didn’t want to buy new furniture…

NO PROBLEM! :D

Fresh paint, new hardwood floors and new positioning for the couches—and we were off to a great start with a more open and dynamic feel for the room.

Also added to the space were new bookcases to fill a large mostly blank wall, lovely curtains to add softness, and a stunning area rug adding a modern pattern and fresh feel.

New pillows and a throw on the couches make them feel completely updated and ready for another decade.

The finishing touches, which make all the difference and really complete the room, include new lighting, funky accessories such as the wood and tapestry stool in the foreground here, and of course, some life with greenery & PLANTS.

And I was so honored to get this testimonial from my client after we finished this room for her:

“I had never worked with a designer before until now, so I was a bit apprehensive. Immediately upon meeting Erin, I felt at ease. She explained the process and took the time to get to know me and my taste so that she could truly reflect who I am in my furnishings. Couldn’t be happier with the way my living room looks now!”—

I LOVE WHAT I DO!

Two years ago...& Today♥️

I shot this video two years ago on the eve of my son leaving for college—and now I need to remind myself of this message again as I prepare for my daughter’s big send off...(choke, gasp....no, I’m not crying! I’m fine! 😭 ).

Maybe at this transitional time of year you need to hear this too—be kind to yourself, keep putting one foot in front of the other, REST, and if your house is out-of-whack right now, this is NORMAL. Really.

I hope this week’s video helps you to give yourself some grace and the space to create order and peace however you can right now. ♥️

Open it up! (Before & After!)

I was so excited when I was asked to help with this project…

My client knew that she wanted to open up her downstairs, brighten it up, and modernize the feel in each space…

As you can see, the living room has the same furniture…but with the new paint palette and accessories, the space feels completely different.

Opening up walls and rearranging how the kitchen was laid out was the biggest part of this renovation, and you can see what a difference it made…

New white cabinets with a sleek quartz backsplash, fancy new appliances and removing the soffit that capped the old cabinets elevated the whole space.

  • The dining room now is more a part of both the living room and the kitchen—all the better for entertaining…

It is the same square footage, with mostly the same furniture…but with each room relating to its neighbor in a whole new way and with a whole new attitude and fresh beauty. Wonderful!

House Care = Self Care

Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is to allow for a day to CHILL at home and give our house a little love-so that it can love us back! 💗
