As you may already know, I get pretty excited about rooms that are a bit out of date or out of whack (OKAY, it may be one of my FAVORITE things in the world! 🙂 ) because of all that potential that is just waiting to be born!!—-And this room definitely was one of those spaces that made me pretty darn gleeful.
Jabot curtains and brass chandelier, moire wallpaper and the like from the 1980’s…this dining room was ready for a big change.
My client wanted her dining room to be a true formal space with an elegant feel—but still wanted it to be fresh and contemporary. We got to work pulling together just the right elements so that it could be the show-stopper she desired.
Take a look at how the room looks now:
The bones of this room stayed pretty much the same, but I still think it looks remarkably different.
We have been working on this house with our clients since they bought it as a fixer upper almost 3 years ago, and each space as we finish it just seems to come to life. Now that the space is complete, I have to say it is one of my favorites in the house because of my client’s beautiful original artwork and stunning area rug…
Through a Canadian manufacturer we work with, we helped her find just the right table, chairs, & sideboard to pull the space together — so she now has heirloom quality pieces that are clean-lined but oh-so-timeless just the same.
And the new chandelier (SWOON) adds a wonderful modern touch to compliment the more traditional lines of the table.
My client’s glass bowl, a beautiful wedding gift that previously didn’t have a place, now looks gorgeous as a centerpiece.
And we rounded things out with just the right accents, such as the metallic bowl and modern lamps below, to add sparkle and texture to finish the space.
What was once a dowdy and dated space is now a room ready for sophisticated gatherings and wonderful dinner parties. Wonderful!! 😀
